Okay, in regards to that letter....doesn't it seem strange that a medic would 'know' all of those figures to the point that what he says should be taken as proof? Just a thought. ;)

I don't doubt that alot of Iraqi's are better off than they were before....I don't think that's in dispute except among a small portion of the american population. But, here are some key issues:
1. At what cost to the soldiers (in life lost and those maimed for life) and at what cost to the american taxpayer (to which I mean the ones who have to 'sacrifice' which doesn't include the wealthy who recently received huge tax cuts).
2. What will Iraq be like after we leave? Will their lives be better off in 5-10 years or will it become like Afganistan or Iran?

The jury is still out on the latter and only time will tell how that turns out...it's a very complicated and tenuous situation over there. How many american lives and limbs do we want to sacrifice over there and how many 100's of billions of dollars do we want to spend?

If we had waited for the UN to accompany us in, there would be alot of things different:
1. Fewer american casualties.
2. Less taxpayer money spent.
3. Less hatred towards the US.
4. Less impression of any government established being little more than a puppet for the US.

IMHO bush administration cost us plenty by rushing into war with Iraq.... personally speaking, I think that he should make some sacrifices of his own... if he's really truly commited then he'll forgo his customary (and uncommonly long) month-long vacation in August and put that time into trying to clean up the mess that he's made of Iraq. But, of course, that kind of sacrifice out of him would be absolutely out of the question. ;)
